For as long as I can remember, music has fascinated me more than nearly anything else. I grew up in Ashville, Ohio and attended Teays Valley High School, where I was an avid member of the fantastic instrumental music program led by Stephanie Smith.
After high school, I attended The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, studying trombone under Joe Duchi and Jim Masters. I performed with various ensembles within the School of Music, including TBDBITL, The OSU Jazz Ensemble, The Art Blakey Combo and The OSU Symphonic Band.
Since graduating from Ohio State in 2016, I have had the pleasure of performing with groups such as The Columbus and Cleveland Jazz Orchestras, Under The Streetlamp, The Central Ohio Symphony, Vaughn Weister's Famous Jazz Orchestra, The Klaberheads, and more. I can be seen performing around Columbus regularly with many local acts, including The Bluewater Kings, The Big Badd, Al Son del Iya, Kinflok, Doc Robinson, and my own sextet, BC6.
I have been teaching private music lessons in Columbus since 2016. There are few things more inspiring to me than helping a student learn and grow on their path to becoming a better musician.
I firmly believe that music is a skill that anyone can learn! My lessons are solidly rooted in proper instrumental technique and emphasize ease and fluidity above all. Students who study with me will leave with a solid understanding of critical music fundamentals. Lessons will include work in breathing and airflow, flexibility on the mouthpiece, ear training, music theory, sight reading, composition and improvisation.
